Easter Egg Hunting

This year we (by 'we' I mean I) decided to forgo the Lutheran egg hunt and try something new, so we showed up a few minutes late for the easter egg hunt at the local indoor pool. The place was packed to capacity so we had to wait until some people left. By then most of the eggs were long gone. Eventually a nice lady gave Haven an egg one of her sons had found (she had like 20 in her bag). Later a guy with a bucket came out and threw some more eggs at the kids. In all Haven had a great time.

And Audrey, well, she slept.

Audrey's First Bath

I realize it's a little late, she's almost two months old! But it's too cold in the winter to get a tiny baby all wet, and plus I couldn't wash away that delicious newborn smell. So today she had her first bath with her big sister. She cried a little, but also kind of liked being swished around in the water. I didn't use any soap on her (her skin is so healthy right now!) and took her out when her little fists started to turn purple. She's getting so big already!

Having a BABY for a sister

It isn't that exciting. All a baby does is lay around.

Haven has fun by the various ways she tucks Tiny in. (Tiny is what we have taken to calling her, I suppose eventually she'll grow into her name.)

And of course, it was inevitable that Tiny would have a go at the dolly bed.

Sisterhood

It isn't all rainbows and butterflies.

Hide and Seek

Still a top game around here!! In this case I was innocently nursing the baby when I hear a yell from Haven's bedroom, 'Mama! Start counting then come find us!!'

Haven's happy place

Haven and Audrey snuggle every night before Haven goes to bed. Haven requests that Audrey sleep with her, but I have to tell her 'Not yet, when she is older you two can sleep together EVERY night.'

You'll notice that Audrey has a pacifier. She just learned to use one tonight and it seems to have revolutionized my role as a mom, as in I am able to put her down for longer than a few minutes. She has spent about an hour now just sucking away at the thing... on the one hand I am relieved to be able to get a few things done, on the other hand I am a little heartbroken I can be replaced so easily by a little piece of plastic.

Audrey is born!

It was so hard I was pretty sure I couldn't do it, then I pushed our new baby out in only seven minutes! She is incredibly tiny (only seven lbs!) and so quiet... She has as much hair as Haven did, but her's is blond tipped, just like mine was when I was born.

Haven isn't really quite sure what to make of it all yet, she had a very busy day with her friends and she is as exhausted as we are. I am sore and tired, but overwhelmed with relief and joy. My parents arrived this evening to take care of us for a week or two. Birth story to follow.....

Coming home from Montana

I was able to talk Wm into stopping at our favorite Indian restaurant in Seattle. It is the restaurant we had our first official date at, when I was suddenly struck with the reality that this is the man I would marry and who's children I would bear.
Pulling into the parking lot:
Haven: Where are we here to?
Momma: The best restaurant EVER!!
Haven: (with the sort of enthusiasm that can only be exhibited by a 3-yr-old)
IS IT A PANCAKE RESTAURANT?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!
As it turns out, Haven is not a fan of Indian food. The only thing she would eat without a great amount of coaxing was the rice pudding.
As we are leaving.
Momma: I LOVE that restaurant. (Feeling very satisfied.)
Haven: (from the backseat, in a sweet singsong voice) I HATE that restaurant.
It's probably a 'you had to be there' kind of thing, but both coming and going Wm and I were cracking up.

A budding young artist

What a day for Haven. This morning I framed some of her paintings, and here she is pictured at her first art showing.
Quite impressive for a three year old!

Then later we went Christmas shopping at the local artisan fair. They had a stage setup that was abandoned, and Haven jumped right in, grabbed the mike and did a rousing version of 'Jingle Bells.'

This kid is destined for greatness. :)
